‘Home and Away’ this is an ongoing project which started in 2017. Focussing on a family which I have been close to since a young age. Documenting and following them on their adaption to living in two separate family homes. With each home being very important to them as a family unit, they are situated in their home in England and visit their home in France as much as they can afford to. Through the use of portraits, landscapes and stills I was able to capture the subtle similarities and differences in the two places remembering the ultimate connection of the two places, the Pink family.
The Story of the famous kayak
Each summer the Pink family would take us to the local lake in the village. Although it was the closest lake to their home, to walk it would take us hours but still we did it on hot summer days. Occasionally, if you were lucky you got to go with the adults in the car which had the kayaks attached on top.
The game: Who would be able to pile into the kayak and ride across the lake the quickest. The boys were always eager to start and to win. They always say it was the best money spent, the things that would supply us with hours of fun until the sun comes down and we all pile back in to set off back home.
As I've grown older, to sit back, capture and create imagery of these moments is just as satisfying as riding around in the kayak itself.
I'm an English photographer located in Surrey UK and am due to graduate from Southampton Solent BA Photography course this summer (2019). I'm an independent photographer working with analog photography. My greatest inspirations for my photography has to be Larry Sultan and Sian Davey. Within my latest work I have made projects where it relies on me to make a connection to my subjects, working with a lot of family-based photography and portraits. Both of these artists have had an influence on my work due to their dedication to their work and how they make connections to their sitters, which for their most well-known work is about their own families. I also work in a documentary style capturing not only the people but the surroundings that tell their own story.
My latest exhibition for my final major project entitled ‘The Beauty of One’s Own’ is being held at The PrintSpace London, from the 6th of June 2019 running for approximately a months time.
